Our adult learning courses range from beginners General English courses to examination preparation courses including Cambridge FCE, CAE & IELTS. We also offer courses for adults in English, maths and science at GCSE, IGCSE and A-Level.

Our experienced teachers will provide you with a comprehensive and effective English course, tailored to your level and designed to help you achieve your English language goal.

All of our classes have a maximum of 6 students to one teacher, enabling teachers to give you substantial personal attention and individual advice on the areas of English that you need to work on.

We also offer one-one personal tuition at a very competitive rate.

Our Language Courses:

English As A Foreign Language (EFL): General English Course: Entry level Beginner - Elementary (A1)

Our popular General English course is ideal for students who want to become more confident with their understanding and use of English. It is also the first step towards gaining a recognised qualification in English.

Course objectives: Our general English courses will

  • Help you to speak with greater confidence and fluency.
  • Increase your vocabulary
  • Develop your listening, reading and writing skills.
  • Give you a greater understanding of the grammatical structure of English.

Cambridge First Certificate English (FCE): Entry level Intermediate- Upper-intermediate B1-B2.

The FCE is widely recognised in educational institutions, industry and commerce as proof of English language ability at the upper-intermediate level (B2-C1)
 

Course objectives: Our FCE course will prepare students for all five sections of the examination papers.

  • Reading comprehension: Students are examined on their ability to understand written information and closely linked points of vocabulary usage.
  • Composition: Two compositions of between 120-180 words are required from a choice of 5 topics.
  • Use of English: Students are tested on the use and usage of the English language.
  • Listening comprehension: Students listen to 3-4 recordings in a test designed to test listening skills with a variety of exercises.
  • Interview: Students are assessed on their ability to interact in conversational English.

Cambridge Advanced Certificate English (CAE): Entry level Upper-intermediate/Advanced B2-C1.)

The CAE is widely recognised in educational institutions, industry and commerce as proof of English ability at the advanced level and the examination offers a high level qualification in English language.

Our CAE course prepares students for the 5 examination papers.

  • Reading comprehension: This exam contains texts selected to test a range of reading skills.
  • Writing: This exam has two compulsory tasks of 250 words each. There is no choice offered for the first task but for the second task students can select a task from a choice of four.
  • English in use: This exam has three sections that test your ability to apply your knowledge of English including grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Listening comprehension: This exam consists of four texts designed to test your listening skills.
  • Interview: In this exam two students are interviewed by two examiners, this exam is designed to test your speaking skills and strategies.
  • Give you a greater understanding of the grammatical structure of English.

IEILTS Exam Preparation: Entry level intermediate B1

The International English Testing System (IELTS) is an entry exam requirement for universities and further education in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. It is recognised by the UKBA, many governments and international employers.

Our IELTS course prepares students for the exam.

  • Writing exam: Consists of two tasks and in the first task students will required to provide a minimum of 150 words to describe factual information that is displayed to them. In the second task students are required to write an essay of at least 250 words on a general academic topic.
  • Oral exam: Consists of 3 sections where the student is required to give verbal answers to the examiner on a range of questions and topics.
  • Listening exam: Students are required to listen to a recording and must answer a series of questions. This will last approximately 30 minutes.
